Five hundred KB is a generous upload ceiling. The tool still enforces your cap, but you are mainly trimming oversized phone photos rather than fighting a tiny limit.
JPEG quality is binary-searched so the file lands as close as possible to the cap without going over. If quality alone is not enough, dimensions shrink in 15% steps and the search runs again.
It does not change clothes, remove backgrounds with AI, or prove identity. HEIC is not decoded in the browser — export JPG from the phone or convert first.
