Is Fileraz really free, and what is the catch?

It is free with no account, no daily cap, and no watermark. The honest reason is that your conversions cost us nothing to run: the work happens on your device, so there is no per-file server cost to recover. The trade-off is that processing is bounded by your own hardware and some operations are not possible in a browser at all.

How can I check that my files really are not uploaded?

Open your browser's developer tools, select the Network tab, then run a conversion. You will see no request carrying your file. We would rather you verify this than take our word for it, since every competing tool makes the same claim.

Is there a file size limit?

Accepted Answer

We do not enforce one. Because files are held in memory while they are processed, the practical ceiling is your device's available RAM. A very large file may fail or make the tab unresponsive, which is a real limitation of this approach compared with server-side processing.

Can I use Fileraz offline?

Accepted Answer

No. There is no service worker, so the page has to load over the network each time, and the PDF to Image tool additionally fetches the PDF.js library from a CDN on first use. Your files are still never uploaded — that is a separate matter from working without a connection.

Why did my TIFF file fail to convert?

Image decoding relies on your browser, and Chrome and Firefox cannot open TIFF files this way. We have not bundled a dedicated TIFF decoder yet, so those pages currently do not work outside Safari. Use ImageMagick, Preview on macOS, or GIMP in the meantime.

Why does my transparent PNG turn white when I convert it to JPG?

Because the JPG format cannot store transparency at all — there is no alpha channel in the file. Transparent pixels have to be replaced with a solid colour, and we use white. Convert to WebP instead if you need the transparency preserved.

Can I convert several images at once?

Not with the image converters or editors, which handle one file at a time. The Merge PDF and Image to PDF tools do accept multiple files, up to 20 each.

Question 8

Why does the Protect PDF tool not work?

Adding a real password to a PDF needs encryption support that our browser-side PDF library does not provide. Rather than produce a file that looks protected but is not, the tool reports that it is unavailable. Use Preview on macOS, Adobe Acrobat, or qpdf --encrypt instead.

Do you collect any data at all?

Never your files. The site does run Sentry error and performance monitoring in production, our host keeps standard server logs, and anything you type into the contact form is sent to us. The privacy policy sets all of this out in detail.
