The count is wall area divided by the face area one brick occupies in the wall, including its mortar joint. It gives a quick material estimate for a single-leaf wall from the area you enter.
Brick dimensions, joint thickness, and the wall's thickness (half-brick versus full-brick) all change the count. Treat the figure as a first pass and adjust for your actual brick and bond.
